# MANTRA Tokenomics

## Mainnet Tokenomics & Distribution

Our mainnet tokenomics proposal was approved by the community in October 2024. Following community feedback, vesting conditions were extended and inflation was reduced to 3%. The revised proposal was presented in two separate governance votes to ERC20 OM holders and mainnet validator nodes. Both proposals passed successfully, with **82.17%** of ERC20 OM holders and **49.17%** of mainnet validators voting in favor.

## Token Evolution & Supply Structure

At genesis, MANTRA Chain launched with a total supply of **1,777,777,776 OM** mainnet staking coins, minted as follows:

### Block 13,000,000 Token Upgrade (1:4 Split)

At block **13,000,000** (expected on or around March 2, 2026), the OM token underwent a **1:4 token split and ticker transition**:

* 1 OM became 4 MANTRA
* Total supply expanded proportionally
* Maximum hard cap became **10,000,000,000 MANTRA**

All allocations described below remain proportional and are multiplied accordingly under the 1:4 conversion.

## Terminology

> **Legacy Tokens**
>
> Original ERC20 OM with hard cap supply of 888,888,888.

> **Mainnet Staking Coins**
>
> CosmWasm IBC-compatible staking coins native to MANTRA Chain mainnet at genesis (OM pre-split).

> **MANTRA**
>
> The upgraded native staking coin of MANTRA Chain following the 1:4 split (post block 13,000,000).

## Genesis Allocation Breakdown

At genesis, **1,777,777,776 OM** were minted across the following categories:

### 67.5% — OM Upgrade

> **50% — Existing OM (EVM Mirror Allocation)**
>
> **888,888,888 OM** were minted to mirror the legacy ERC20 OM supply.
>
> These tokens were held in a canonical bridge contract to facilitate migration from ERC20 OM to mainnet staking OM. Users may convert legacy OM into mainnet OM via the canonical bridge. Legacy OM will be progressively deprecated in favor of native staking coins.

> **17.5% — OM Upgrade Incentives**
>
> **311,111,112 OM** were allocated to incentivize legacy OM stakers prior to mainnet launch.
>
> Eligible participants were determined via snapshot mechanisms. Rewards were distributed as mainnet staking coins, subject to:
>
> * **4 month** cliff
> * **44 month** linear vesting
>
> Principal legacy OM remained ERC20 until voluntarily migrated.

### 12.8% — MANTRA Chain Association

> **2.1% — Ecosystem**
>
> **37,777,777 OM** allocated for ecosystem development, incubation, and strategic initiatives aligned with MANTRA Chain.

> **5.6% — Mainnet Pre-Seed**
>
> **100,000,000 OM** allocated to pre-seed participants.
